Abstract: Peer review is central to the process of modern engineering. Open peer review gives the impression that decisions are arrived at in a fair and meritocratic manner with an objective, reliable, consistent process. It is responsible for identifying methodological flaws and for improving the quality. Assistance from somebody in the same discipline is valuable. Clients refer to reviewers as referees since they help to determine the fate of a design. The client sets up a hanging committee to carry out open peer review to decide whether a piece of work should be accepted, revised or rejected. Reviewers in similar specialties make up a professional group. In an open peer review refereeing a retaining and protection structure design of building foundation pit excavation, an outside expert as an assessor, might master the art of review to pay attention to guarantee consistency of processes and outcomes.

Abstract:

Liaodong zone includes eastern actic region of Liaozhong sag and Liaodong uplift, which is between Liaozhong sag and Liaodong sag with good condition of source rocks and favorable reservoir-seal assemblages in Dongying formation. Meanwhile, there are many fault blocks and nose-shaped structures. However, twelve wells were drilled during 15 years without any significant business discovery by foreign oil companies and domestic petroleum enterprises before 2002. Based on deep research of geological condition and analysis on dry wells again in Liaodong zone, we recognized that two main reservoir plays existed at Dongying and Shahejie formation. Moreover, the dominative factor for Dongying is migration and the one for Shahejie is reservoir. According to this guidance, such giant oilfield JX1-1 was discovered with 150 million reserves in the end through right research direction and favorable targets evaluation, which shows great importance of scientific research in oil and gas exploration.

Leading Approaches to Vascularize Kidney Constructs in Tissue Engineering Review

Abstract:

There is an unprecedented need for new treatments for renal failure, as the incidence of this disease is increasing disproportionately to advancements in therapies. Current treatments are limited by the availability of viable organs, for which there is a worldwide lack. These treatment modalities also require a substantial amount of infrastructure, significantly limiting the access to care in most countries. Kidney tissue engineering approaches promise to develop alternative solutions that address many of the inadequacies in current care. Although many advancements have been made—primarily in the past decade—in biofabrication and whole-organ tissue engineering, many challenges remain. One major hindrance to the progress of current tissue engineering approaches is establishing successful vascularization of developed engineered tissue constructs. This review focuses on the recent advancements that address the vascular challenge, including the biofabrication of vasculature, whole-organ engineering through decellularization and recellularization approaches, microscale organogenesis, and vascularization using organoids in the context of kidney tissue engineering. We also highlight the specific challenges that remain in developing successful strategies capable of clinical translation.
